ConnectEd Program

A bridge, not a destination

Every young person’s journey is different and for some, attending school full-time just isn’t possible right now. Whether due to anxiety, trauma, or other personal circumstances, ConnectEd provides a supported pathway to keep learning and wellbeing on track.

At Alta1, we believe that every student deserves a place to belong, to learn, and to move forward. ConnectEd offers a personalised, transitional program that meets students where they are, helping them rebuild confidence, connection, and capacity at a pace that honours their wellbeing.

A pathway of support, growth, and reconnection

ConnectEd is designed for students in both Middle and Senior School who are ready to re-engage with learning just not in a traditional classroom yet.

Students work from home and meet regularly with their Alta1 team to stay supported and connected. Our goal is not to keep students online forever it’s to help them step confidently toward their next chapter, whether that’s an Alta1 campus, TAFE, or employment.

ConnectEd is a bridge, not a destination. Your child is not alone and they are not stuck.

Rebuilding the Systems That Make Learning Possible

ConnectEd is not just about keeping up with schoolwork it’s about rebuilding the internal systems that help young people feel safe, confident, and ready to reconnect with education.

Using Alta1’s Stronger Systems Model (SSM), students receive support across seven key areas that are often disrupted when school anxiety, overwhelm, or health challenges take hold:

Star-Marker

Relational Trust

Students rebuild trust through consistent chaplain visits, predictable routines, and one- to-one support that feels safe and steady.

Star-Marker

Self-Regulation

We help students learn how to return to calm during overwhelming moments an essential step before returning to group learning environments.

Star-Marker

Identity & Belonging

Through regular connection with their Alta1 team, students rediscover who they are, what matters to them, and that they still belong to a learning community even while learning from home.

Star-Marker

Thinking & Focus

Online learning can feel heavy for anxious or overwhelmed young people. We reduce cognitive load and build focus slowly and sustainably, matching each student’s capacity.

Star-Marker

Motivation & Mastery

Small, achievable goals rebuild motivation and confidence. Students begin experiencing success again, often for the first time in years.

Star-Marker

Decision-Making & Responsibility

Students learn to make safe choices, manage routines, and grow independence in a supported way.

Star-Marker

Purpose & Meaning

As confidence returns, students begin imagining “what’s next” such as potentially transitioning to an Alta1 campus, TAFE, or work pathways.

The SSM helps ensure ConnectEd is not just a holding space it’s a forward-moving pathway toward growth, readiness, and reconnection.

Therapeutic and collaborative support

Every student in ConnectEd has access to:

  • Therapeutic services (as needed)
  • Collaborative goal setting between students, families, and staff
  • Regular progress reviews to ensure growth and readiness for transition

It’s a holistic, restorative approach supporting both learning and healing.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can my child start in ConnectEd and later move to a campus?
The ConnectEd is a program with specific eligibility criteria and is not an automatic pathway to a campus. If returning to on-site learning becomes a shared goal, our team will work with the family to assess readiness and support a transition when the student is ready and a place is available.
Yes. Face-to-face classes are an important part of growth and re-engagement. Sessions are usually 2–3 hours, starting once or twice a week. If a student is not ready straight away, this is something they can work toward with support.
Yes. A responsible adult must be physically present in the home while the student is completing ConnectEd learning. An adult is also required to be present during scheduled chaplain visits.

A relational, restorative approach with a destination in sight

ConnectEd exists to keep students moving forward, not standing still. It’s a safe step forward where confidence is rebuilt, systems are restored, and purpose is rediscovered.
